The study of Chivalric fighting arts is an equipment-heavy pursuit, and over the last decade a wide-variety of WMA/HEMA dedicated vendors have designed products specifically for our needs. Although the rules of caveat emptor always prevails, the following swordsmakers, clothiers and book sellers have garnered excellent reputations within our community.

Swordmakers

Albion Swords (Wisconsin, USA) and Albion-Europe (Denmark) – Designed by noted Swedish swordsmith, author and researcher Peter Johnsson, these limited edition, collectible swords are all painstakingly handmade to exacting design specifications, based on countless hours spent in the detailed study and documentation of original swords. Albion’s Maestro line are durable blunt training weapons specifically designed for Western martial artists.

Arms & Armor (Minnesota, USA)

Danelli Armouries (Italy) – Weapons from Danelli Armouries are functional reproductions of real swords that replicate the same dimensions, weight and balance as their original counterparts, with a focus on rapiers, complex and basket-hilted swords of the 16th – 18th centuries.

Darkwood Armory (Mississippi, USA) – Darkwood builds reliable, durable and accurately balanced and weighted blunt swords, daggers and rapiers designed specifically for the rigors of training and sparring. 

Pavel Moc (Czech Republic) – A very popular, central European swordmaker who produces high-quality sharp and blunt weapons.

Regenyei Peter (Hungary) – A Hungarian swordsman and swordmaker, the shape and characteristics of whose weapons are based on historical research combining pictures from codexes and manuscripts, paintings, graphics or genuine swords from museums.

Fuhlen Designs (Georgia, USA) is a highly-recommended provider of custom-made wrestling and sparring jackets for the Western Martial Arts Community

Books and Video
